Four Days in Las Vegas: From The Strip to the Desert

Four Days in Las Vegas: From The Strip to the Desert

Shopping, sightseeing, happy hours, national parks, casinos, shows – in Las Vegas you can do it all! Here’s a suggested four-day itinerary for Vegas; but know that there is so much more that you can do.

Any of these days can be subbed to have an absolute chilled day by the pool or a recovery day if you’ve been making the most out of your Vegas trip.

Table of Contents

Day 1: Exploring The Strip

Wake up after a good sleep and enjoy having a bit of a lazy start to the day. Vegas is very quiet in the morning, it’s actually a nice time to go for a walk (or a run as many people were doing if that’s your thing). Grab your morning coffee or replace it with a margarita and enjoy The Strip in milder temperatures and with less people around.

After having a nice walk around, or maybe a lazy morning in the hotel, it’s time to grab some lunch. Choosing where is hard as there are so many choices! From Michelin star to Shake Shake (which we love and always recommend), it totally depends on your budget. We were staying at Treasure Island and had lunch on our first day there at Gilly’s which was yum, had great service, and we could watch people walking alongside us on The Strip.

Next, you may want some pool time in the sun, or perhaps escape the heat inside, enjoying the air conditioning. Late afternoon when it starts to cool down, go for a walk along one side of The Strip and back down the other to see all the sights, stopping for some dinner wherever catches your eye.

It doesn’t matter what night of the week you are there, something will always be going on. Perhaps an earlier night tonight will help with jet lag etc., but if you are here to party, make the most of it!

Tip: You don’t have to be staying at hotels along The Strip to go inside – some have really impressive interiors (don’t miss the Bellagio Conservatory and the Venice Canals in the Venetian).

Day 2: Hire a car and go explore

This was something we hadn’t done before while visiting Vegas, but it was an awesome day trip, and we would highly recommend it. We hired a car and travelled out to Red Rock Canyon National Park which you can read about here.

We also made the most of having the car and went to the Premium North Outlets during the afternoon/evening. If you are a shopper, you will love this. Although the sales weren’t as good as the past, some stores had amazing deals.

Another good thing to do while you have a car is to drive to the famous Las Vegas sign. It’s actually quite far away from the Strip to walk, especially if you are staying towards the north end. There’s good parking here. At peak times expect to queue up!

As an alternative to hiring a car for the day, you could go on a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon (recommend the tour at sunset) or another organised tour from The Strip.

Day 3: Margaritas, tacos, museums and casinos

Make the most of the black-out curtains and enjoy another sleep in. Since we haven’t put a night of going out yet, night three would be our pick (unless you are there to go out every night!). Make sure you check out what’s on – so many great DJs and artists visit Vegas regularly, and the prices seem quite reasonable. If you don’t get tickets to something, don’t worry, there are plenty of places to go. Where totally depends on your taste and where you are staying.

What we would recommend doing is looking around for some good happy hours. There are lots around and they usually run from around 3pm -7pm. We had so many happy hour margaritas and tacos – the perfect combo.

Also, it wouldn’t be a trip to Vegas if you didn’t lose some money at a casino, right? We actually loved one game at the casino – the horse racing machine (Fortune Cup). So much fun and I think we won some money on that. Look out for them on casino floors, they aren’t common but there was one in The Wynn and Bellagio.

If you have the time, we also recommend heading to Fremont Street. We caught the bus here which easy and we were lucky enough to get front seats on the second floor, so we got a sight-seeing tour as well. Make the most of cheaper drinks than on The Strip, enjoy the light show (every hour from 6:00pm – 2:00am) and stay for the nightlife.

Day 4: Recovery, shopping and a show

Depending on what you did last night, you may need some recovery time this morning. Head to the hotel pool or maybe brunch? If you do want a good option for brunch, we highly recommend The Wynn Buffet (see our guide here).

If you haven’t already been shopping, make the most of this today. From luxury to the mall, to Ross, and the World’s Largest Gift Shop (not worth going to, in our opinion), there’s something for everyone.

A trip to Vegas isn’t complete without a show. Cirque du Soleil is popular and there are many to choose from, but there are also magicians, concerts, sports, the list goes on. During high season, you will want to book before you arrive in Vegas, as the popular shows can sell out.

If you haven’t managed to see the Bellagio Fountains show, make sure you time walking past at night to round up a perfect four days in Las Vegas.

Tips

  • Stay Hydrated: Las Vegas is in the desert, so drink plenty of water, especially if you are also making the most of the drinks along The Strip.
  • Comfortable Shoes: You can do a lot of walking in Vegas, so wear comfortable shoes.
  • Plan Ahead: Make reservations for popular restaurants and shows to avoid disappointment.

Las Vegas is a fun city to visit with such a variety of things to do. We hope you enjoy your stay!
